Cirque-Coat by Elsa Lim

“The garment was inspired by the influential cubism. By deconstructing geometric
shapes or elements into an abstract form which then turns into a celebration of
shapes, colours, textures and values of spatial relationships. The use of geometric
shapes came from a painting of Edward Wadsworth’s S.S. Jerseymoor, using the circles
in his painting as a key element, which translates into my design. I’ve then deconstructed and reconstructed
it into an abstract form by shrinking the circle, which then turns into a three dimensional
form.” – Elsa
