“It Is Not What It Seems” Coat by Paula Lessel

“Browsing through pictures of old dazzle-ships, I was fascinated by the way they play with our
perception. How they fool us, distort our vision, make us lose orientation. Thus, I wanted to trick my
usual way of draping. I started by drawing three different lines onto a piece of paper or fabric, cut it
apart from the middle and puzzled it back together on the mannequin. The outcome is a unique,
voluminous and strange garment that allows us to question the shapes of what we know.” – Paula
